In 2007, IUCN, UNDP, UNEP and WEDO recognized the need for a coordinated strategy among global institutions working on gender and climate change. The result was the establishment of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA). The primary goal of the GGCA is to ensure that climate change policies, decision making, and initiatives at the global, regional and national levels are gender-responsive. The GGCA has developed this training manual to increase the capacity of policy and decision makers so that efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change are gender-sensitive.Though very broad in scope, the manual includes a short module on the gender issues relevant to carbon fixing/sequestration and specifically discusses REDD+.

It gives information about indigenous peoples’ livelihoods, world views and concerns about development, including certain “core principles” which should be at the heart of joint activities. The policy also defines a series of thematic areas where collaborative opportunities are most feasible. At the same time, a number of mechanisms are suggested that will allow cooperation with indigenous peoples to move forward in a more systematic way. This Guide, developed by the FAO in 20009, aims to assist indigenous peoples and their organizations on how to use the Voluntary Guidelines to Support the Progressive Realization of the Right to Adequate Food in the Context of National Food Security to promote their own interests in the area of food security. It also intends to increase awareness and improve understanding among development workers as well as United Nations (UN) staff, government officials and indigenous peoples themselves, of linkages between issues affecting indigenous peoples and the Right to Food Guidelines. The Guide is thus mainly about using the Right to Food Guidelines as an instrument to advocate and lobby in favor of indigenous peoples’ interests.

The October 2010 REDD-Net Bulletin (Asia-Pacific Issue) presents 8 mini-articles looking at trust issues in REDD+, including the examination of FPIC as a trust-building tool. It provides some useful guidance on the elements of good practice that can help to build trust with communities.

Preliminary Assessment of the REDD+ Context in Nigeria, as of year 2010, with a two-tier approach: Federal level and a focus on Cross River State. This is a comprehensive, information-rich report, that will sustain the REDD+ process in the country.
