UN-REDD Viet Nam Programme Gender Analysis

Mon, 12 Aug, 2013

Mainstreaming gender into REDD+ is a defined objective for the UN-REDD Viet Nam Programme. The new report presents specific recommendations as to how the newly launched Phase II should strengthen women's role in REDD+ and make sure any activity integrates the participation of both genders. The report is based on field work from Lam Dong province, which was the pilot province for Phase I and one of six provinces selected for Phase II. Although the report is specifically designed for Phase II, it includes observations that will apply beyond the UN-REDD Programme and Lam Dong Province. The report includes several observations and recommendations on areas such as involvement of local communities, FPIC, land tenure, benefit sharing, capacity building and the importance of participation of women for REDD+.
