WRI developed seven Principles for Effective Community Engagement for extractive and infrasturucture projects, as discussed in this 36-page report. The principles are intended to serve two key purposes. For companies and governments developing projects: to provide a framework for indentifying solutions to core community engagement challenges. For citizen organizatins supporting communities: to serve as a resource, in order to empower local communities to provide more meaningful input into project design and implementation.  This report is the first of two produced by WRI's Institutions and Governance Program, the second will identify exmples of best practices for each of the principle's identified.

Se presenta una nueva publicación, en español, "Guia de apoyo para el Negociador Iberoamericano de Cambio Climático," que fue preparada con el apoyo de la Unidad de Ambiente y Energía del Centro Regional del PNUD para Latinoamérica y el Caribe y cofinanciado por el Gobierno de España. El objetivo de esa publicación es apoyar a los países iberoamericanos en sus esfuerzos de preparar y participar en las negociaciones del cambio climático de CMNUCC. La guia intenta fortalecer la capacidad de los encargados de la formulación de políticas en vencer las barreras típicas como lenguaje, complejidad de los temas, y las reglas de procedimiento por presentarles buen consejo e información clave. A new guidance document has been published in Spanish, "Guia de apoyo para el Negociador Iberoamericano de Cambio Climático," with support from the UNDP Regional Center for Latin America and the Caribbean and co-financed by the Government of Spain. The objective of this publication is to support Latin American countries in their preparation and participation efforts in UNFCCC's climate change negotiations. The handbook mainly targets Latin American decision makers and climate change negotiators and aims to overcome common barriers such as language, thematic complexity, and intricate procedural rules through useful tips and key information.    (Translated by Nicki Mokhtari)

The purpose of this guide is to assist developing country negotiators and others who are working on REDD-plus.The guide is available in English, French and Spanish. The guide is divided into three parts. Part I considers REDD-plus in the negotiation. Part II contains general negotiating tips for new REDD plus negotiators and others. Part III contains UNFCCC documents that are often referred to in REDD-plus negotiations.Updated May 2011
