Ghana’s Country Approach to Safeguards Roadmap, draft V.2, December 2016 (English)

With technical support from SNV, CLP and KASA and financial support from BMUB, Ghanahas decided to adopt a Country Approach to Safeguards (CAS) in order to meet andimplement its safeguards requirements for REDD+. In addition to responding to the UnitedNations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) requirements, a countryapproach to safeguards will allow Ghana to consider further objectives, including, forexample, meeting the safeguard requirements of organizations (e.g. donors) providinginterim results-based REDD+ payments/finance, such as the Forest Carbon PartnershipFacility (FCPF), and also contributing to the social and environmental sustainability ofnational policies and their implementation.
