Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV)
The collection of data and information at a national (or sub-national) level, and performance of the necessary calculations for estimating emission reductions or enhancement of carbon stocks and associated uncertainties against a reference level.

FAO is supporting the preparation efforts of Member countries for REDD implementation, particularly in the area of measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) of the forest resources, carbon stocks, greenhouse gas (GHG), emission levels.
