Consultations with Civil Society: A Sourcebook

Thu, 28 Jul, 2011

The 84-page sourcebook published by the World Bank in February 2007 is designed to be a useful resource for consultations. Section one provides an overview of consultations with civil society that are drawn from World Bank staff, CSOs, governments, and other donor agencies.   It is intended to provide the overall rationale and framework to guide Bank consultations.  Section two provides a step-by-step approach to designing consultation processes. It is not intended to be  a menu of options from which to consider depending on the type of consultation that is envisioned. It emphasizes the importance of a systematic approach to consultation design, including careful documentation of lessons learned, so that others who follow may be able to conduct successful consultations.
